BESPOKE FRAMING
"GIG POSTER"

"BLIZZARD FORCE"

The customer was kind enough to give us free reign when framing several pieces by American artist, Mike Mitchell.

This forms part of a series of Star Wars portraits that began releasing in 2016.

We decided to incorporate elements from a famous scene cut from The Empire Strikes Back.
During the Imperial attack on the rebel's 'Echo Base' on the ice planet 'Hoth', C-3PO is seen to tear a warning sticker from one of the base's doors. It is later revealed, when a Snowtrooper opens the door, that the warning was of 'Wampas', the notorious ice monsters that attack Luke Skywalker... Needless to say, said Snowtrooper meets their demise.

We used modelling foam to carve an ice relief, which we then finished with snow treatment and ice sparkles to give a realistic ice effect (glistens in sunlight), before sealing. This also forms a spacer to keep the print from coming into contact with the glazing.

The float glass was treated with a frost effect at its edge, before being mounted into a bespoke 3D modelled and printed 'Wampa Door' frame, hand painted then airbrushed with an object specific lighting effect.

An original poster by Ken Taylor, for Pearl Jam's performance in Brisbane, during their 2006 tour of Australia
We've used a black mount and highlighted the bevel at various points representing light cast from the various sources in the print.
It is framed in a matt black Japanese "Yakisugi" style frame. The frame has been hand painted to give the impression of smouldering wood and to draw the viewer in. It is finished with a deep rebate, angled "bullnose" outer frame and 3mm cast acrylic.
